Privacy
Your data, in plain English.
What we collect, why we need it, who can see it, and how to take it all back. No legalese where plain words will do.

Privacy
Try them. They work just like in the app.
The short version
- We keep what matching needs.Your profile, your skills, what you’re looking for, and the work you choose to show.
- Your city, never your street.Location is the city and country you type in. We never read GPS.
- We don’t sell your data.No ad networks, no data brokers, no tracking pixels.
- You choose who sees you.Hide from Discover, from search, or from the web, at any time in Settings.
- Messages are between you.Only people in a conversation can read it. Moderators see a message only when it’s reported.
- Delete means delete.Ask in the app and everything goes after 30 days. You can change your mind until then.
01Who we are
Collaborators (“we”, “us”) runs the Collaborators apps for iPhone, Android and desktop, and the website at collaborators.app. The service is operated by [Company legal name], [registered address], which is responsible for your personal data under this policy.
Questions about privacy go to support@collaborators.app.
02What we collect
What you give us
- Account: your email address, or the identifier Apple or Google gives us when you sign in with them. If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, we only see Apple’s relay address.
- Profile: your name, photo, headline, the skills you bring and need, experience, availability, weekly commitment, and your city and country.
- Work: images and links you add to your profile or projects.
- Projects: what you post, the roles you open, applications and who joins.
- Messages: what you send in conversations and team rooms.
- Safety: reports you make, people you block, and the confirmation that you are 18 or older.
What the app records as you use it
- Activity that powers matching: who you said Collab to or passed on, your matches, and profile views (so we can tell someone “who looked at your profile”).
- Referrals: if you arrived through someone’s share link, we note who shared it.
- Sign-in sessions: the tokens that keep you signed in on your devices, and when you were last active.
We don’t use advertising or analytics SDKs, and we don’t read your contacts, photos you haven’t chosen, or your location.
03How we use it
- To match you: we compare what you bring and need with other people’s, and weigh commitment and distance to work out Collab Fit.
- To run the service: show your profile and projects, deliver messages and notifications, and keep you signed in.
- To keep people safe: filter objectionable content, review reports, and act on accounts that break the Community Guidelines.
- To talk to you: sign-in links, and important notices about your account or these terms. We don’t send marketing email unless you ask for it.
Where the law asks for a legal basis, we rely on performing our contract with you (running the service you signed up for), our legitimate interest in keeping it safe, and your consent where we ask for it.
04Who can see what
- People on Collaborators can see your profile, work and public projects, unless you’ve hidden yourself or blocked them.
- The web: your profile and public projects can have a public page that search engines index. Turn off “Public page” in Settings to remove it.
- Messages are visible only to the people in the conversation, and to moderators when one of them reports it.
- Blocked people can’t see you, message you or find you in search.
06How long we keep it
- We keep your data while your account is open.
- When you delete your account, your profile is hidden straight away and everything is erased after 30 days. Your profile, work, projects and messages all go, including messages in conversations with others.
- Reports you made are kept so moderation history stays intact, but your name is removed from them.
- Backups roll over and are gone within a further 30 days.
See Delete your account for exactly how.
07Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- See and correct your data: most of it is right there in your profile and Settings.
- Get a copy of your data by emailing us from your account’s address.
- Delete your account from the app, or by email if you no longer have it.
- Object or restrict how we use your data, and withdraw consent you’ve given.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
Write to support@collaborators.app. We reply within 30 days.
08Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside the database is enforced row by row, so each person can read only what they’re allowed to see. Staff access is limited to what moderation and support need. No system is perfect: if something goes wrong that affects you, we’ll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
09International transfers
Our servers are in [hosting region]. If your data moves between countries, we protect it with the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
10Adults only
Collaborators is for people aged 18 and over, and everyone confirms their age before using it. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we close it. If you’re worried about a child’s safety, write to safety@collaborators.app.
11Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and ask you to agree again where that’s required. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
